About
Hi! My name is Aurora Beattie and I live in South Davis County, Utah. I am a homeschool mama of over 17 years. Though I have been in theater in some way most of my life, over the last 13 years I have taught theater in homeschool communities, a private school, and at a community theater. The last 8 years I have taught Shakespeare specifically as well as various LEMI Leadership Projects (Leadership Education Mentoring Insitute).
I enjoy continuing education as a life long journey and hope through my classes to inspire my students to do the same. I continue to "brush up" my skills by participating in various training, taking classes through local venues, being part of the greater theater community, and taking classes offered through continuing education resources.
I started Homespun Education 15 years ago as a journaling blog of my homeschooling adventures. I have recently revived it as a homeschool resource for Junior High and High School familes. I have a daughter that graduated from Homeschool (Beattie Family Academy) and went on to college where she maintained a 4.0 GPA and served an LDS mission to Brazil.
I hope to add love and joy to those who invite me to walk their educational journey with them. I love edcuation! I love young minds! I believe edcation starts with hearts first and then the mind.
Testimonials
I have known Aurora for many years and have personally witnessed her remarkable ability to bring out the best in young actors. As co-director in two of her Shakespeare productions, I was amazed at the talent she could draw out from the youth. She made learning Shakespeare fun and understandable. She allowed the youth to stretch in their creative discovery and contribution, always encouraging, and professional at the same time.
Beyond her directing talents, Aurora is an accomplished swing dancer and costume artist. She generously brings these gifts to the table as well, creating a top-quality and unique production that is incredibly fun for both the actor and the audience. I highly recommend her to anyone who has a desire to learn, appreciate, and enjoy everything Shakespeare.

My kids have worked with Aurora in Shakespeare project for several years. Whether it is costumes, understanding Shakespeare, developing character, or becoming a better performer, I have seen Aurora go above and beyond. She is incredibly experienced and passionate about Shakespeare, acting, but most especially helping kids grow and learn. My kids had a great experience. I would recommend her class to anyone wanting to stretch their kids in fun and engaging ways.

Aurora has a real gift for connecting with students and making learning come alive. She encourages students to take initiative, own their work, and grow into competent leaders. By meeting students where they are and supporting their growth, Aurora helped my children take charge of their learning in meaningful and empowering ways. I would highly recommend Aurora as a mentor.
